It's here! We can finally bring out the second edition of 'Cannabis as a harm reduction tool', a publication based on the experiences of the participants of Metzineres in collaboration with drug and gender experts. With renewed images and a revision of the original text!
Let's remember that this project is based on the perspective of 'full-spectrum harm reduction': that is, on those policies and strategies aimed at minimising the harmful consequences that the use of some substances can have (as well as the negative impacts of prohibitionist policies on drugs), taking into account the diversity of contexts and structural factors that interact with this use.
In this case, we are talking about cannabis: a substance that has been used as a treatment for multiple illnesses and ailments throughout time in many cultures.
Many of the participants of Metzineres use this plant for different reasons: to find pleasure; to alleviate physical discomfort; to overcome different situations of vulnerability, stigma and violence.... But also to reduce pain; to modulate the effect of other psychoactive substances with more associated risks; eating disorders; to support the effects of chemotherapy or menopause; sleep disturbances; anxiety; anguish; or to alleviate the stress derived from grief and trauma, among others.
This material is intended to be shared among peers, with the aim of generating community reflection in the field of drug policy on a reality that has been little observed until now. In this sense, we invite both individuals and organisations to download it and disseminate it among their networks.
Available in Catalan, Spanish and English!
